Connect a bank or card with Plaid

Link any U.S. bank or credit card through Plaid, tag each account as Business, Personal or Mixed, and understand how far back RevvFi pulls history and what it can see.

Updated October 9, 2026Verified against the current app and web app

Optional: 2-step verification

You do not need 2-step verification to connect a bank. We recommend turning it on afterwards — a 6-digit code from a free app like Google Authenticator protects your bank connection even if your password leaks. The RevvFi app offers it right after your first bank connects, and you can turn it on any time from Settings. If it is already on, RevvFi asks for a code before opening the bank connection. See Security, two-factor and Face ID.

Connecting

  1. Open Add a bank account (during onboarding, from your profile menu, or on the web from Settings, the Dashboard or Transactions).
  2. Plaid opens and shows your bank's own sign-in. RevvFi never sees your username or password. Over 12,000 U.S. banks are supported; the connection is read-only and transactions only.
  3. If you are on the web and your bank uses its own OAuth page, you are sent there and back automatically.
  4. Tag each account on the How do you use these accounts? screen: Business, Personal or Mixed. Every account needs a tag. If you have several businesses, a Business account also gets a default business for this account.
  5. RevvFi imports and categorizes the history, then shows Bank connected! with how many transactions were auto-categorized and how many need review. Tap Review N transactions to clear them, or + Add another bank.
Already connected? If you try to add a bank you already linked, RevvFi warns You already have this bank connected. Use Connect anyway only if it is genuinely a second login at the same bank.

What the tags do

You can change a tag later under Settings → Linked accounts → Manage linked accounts, and override any single transaction at any time.

How far back it goes

When you first link a bank, RevvFi asks Plaid for history back to January 1 of the previous calendar year (within what the bank provides). That window is fixed at link time; to widen it later you would unlink and reconnect. Transactions older than the window are not imported.

What RevvFi can and cannot see

It receives transactions and account names for the accounts you selected. It cannot see your credentials, move money, or change anything at your bank. Your bank connections are removed automatically if your subscription lapses, and you can remove them yourself at any time. See Fix a bank that needs attention, refresh, or disconnect.
