How RevvFi collects, uses, and protects your information

1. Overview

Revv Technologies LLC ("RevvFi," "we," "us," or "our") operates the RevvFi mobile application and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our app.

By creating an account and using RevvFi, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Plain English: We collect the minimum data needed to run RevvFi. We do not sell your data. Your financial information is used only to provide you with deduction tracking and budgeting features.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Business profile: Industry, business name, and home office details entered during onboarding
  • Financial data: Income entries, expense records, and transaction notes you manually enter
  • Receipt images: Photos of receipts you upload for scanning and categorization
  • Mileage data: Trip logs, start/end locations, and vehicle information you provide
  • Budget information: Budget categories, limits, and spending goals you configure
  • Support communications: Messages you send to our support team

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device type, OS version, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage data: Features you use, screens you visit, and in-app actions (via Firebase Analytics)
  • Crash reports: Error logs and crash data to help us fix bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Location data: GPS coordinates when you use mileage tracking — only with your explicit permission

Information from Third Parties

  • Bank and financial account data: Transaction history, balances, and account details retrieved via Plaid when you connect your accounts
  • Authentication data: If you use Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email from Google

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the RevvFi application
  • Automatically identify and categorize tax deductions from your transactions
  • Process and extract data from receipt images using AI
  • Generate financial reports and export files for your use
  • Send budget alerts and threshold notifications you've configured
  • Verify your identity and maintain account security
  • Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, subscription confirmation)
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the product
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may use aggregated, de-identified spending insights to surface relevant offers, deals, or partner services we believe may benefit you — such as better rates on insurance, software, or services you already use. You can opt out of these recommendations at any time in Settings.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party providers who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, database storage, file storage, analytics, and crash reporting
  • Plaid Technologies, Inc.: Secure bank account connectivity and transaction retrieval
  • Anthropic, PBC: AI-powered receipt processing and chat responses (Claude API)
  • Apple / Google: App distribution, in-app purchase processing, and push notifications

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of users.

Business Transfers

If Revv Technologies LLC is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

Partner Offers & Deals

We may share aggregated, de-identified spending data with partners to negotiate better rates or offers for our users — for example, if we identify that a large portion of our users pay for a particular insurance or software product, we may work with a competing provider to offer our users a better deal. This data does not include your name, account numbers, or any information that identifies you personally.

With Your Consent

We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

5. Plaid & Bank Connectivity

RevvFi uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. to connect your bank and financial accounts. When you link accounts through Plaid:

  • You authenticate directly with your financial institution through Plaid's secure interface — RevvFi never sees your banking username or password
  • Plaid retrieves transaction history and account information and provides it to RevvFi
  • RevvFi stores transaction data in your account to power deduction tracking and budgeting features
  • You can disconnect any linked account at any time from the Settings screen

Plaid's use of your data is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

RevvFi only requests read access to your accounts. We cannot initiate transfers, make payments, or modify your bank accounts in any way.

6. AI Processing

RevvFi uses the Claude API from Anthropic, PBC to power receipt scanning, transaction categorization, and AI chat responses. When you use these features:

  • Receipt images and text are sent to Anthropic's API for processing
  • Chat messages you send to the AI assistant are processed by Anthropic's API
  • Anthropic processes this data subject to their API usage policies
  • We do not include your bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or full financial credentials in AI requests

AI-generated responses regarding taxes and deductions are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional tax advice.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
  • Data is stored in Google Firebase, which is SOC 2 Type II certified
  • Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication with email verification
  • Receipt images are stored in Firebase Storage with access restricted to your account
  • We conduct regular reviews of our security practices

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Active account data: Retained for as long as your account is active
  • Deleted account data: Permanently deleted within 24 hours of your account deletion request, except where retention is required by law. A copy of your data is emailed to you at deletion time, unless you opt out in the in-app deletion confirmation.
  • Receipt images: Retained while your account is active; deleted upon account deletion
  • Analytics data: Aggregate, anonymized analytics may be retained longer
  • Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years for quality assurance

9. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate personal information
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information
  • Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential communications at any time

Location Data

Location access is used only for the mileage tracking feature. You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings. This disables automatic mileage tracking but does not affect any other features.

Marketing Communications

We may send product updates and feature announcements to your registered email. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

10. Children's Privacy

RevvFi is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@getrevvapp.com and we will delete that information promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Sending an email notification to your registered email address
  • Displaying a prominent notice in the RevvFi app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

Your continued use of RevvFi after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
